CAPBRETON, France (Friday, September 12, 2008) - Jeremy Flores (New Caledonia / Capbreton,FRA), 20, confirmed he was back and fit at the Boost Mobile Pro of Surf pres. by Hurley getting a 3rd place to equal his best result this year and jump back to No. 10 on the ASP World Tour ratings.

Flores, who had been injured for five weeks, came back with excellent surfing in California defeating reigning ASP World Champion Mick Fanning (Gold Coast, AUS) in the Quarterfinals before going down to event runner-up Taj Burrow (AUS).

I am just happy that I made the Semifinals,” Flores said. “I came here with no goal at all, to get just a few waves as a warm up for France and it ended up good. I think these are the conditions that Taj (Burrow) surfs the best in. The little rights with the onshore winds. I tried my best and it’s okay.”

Flores, who still had a sour ankle during the event, came up with impressive results including a 17.57 point tally (out of a possible 20) to defeat Fanning. At 20 years of age, Flores keeps his best French and European surfer status.

I think I had harder heats this year,” Flores said. “So I am happier with the result this year compared to last year.”

Flores will head to the next event in France where he will be much expected by the crowds and hopes for getting another solid finish and keep his end-of-the-year ASP Top 5 hopes alive.

This is good momentum for France,” Flores said. “Last year I did good in Trestles and I went to France willing to do good and I had the worst result of the year. This year I’m going to have a different approach. I’m going to try and be more relaxed and not put too much pressure on myself.”

Jeremy Flores finishes best European in California and leads the crew to the next couple of events taking place at Hossegor in France and Mundaka in the Basque Country.
