A Mick and Bede final, a reprise of France where Bede couldn't get a handle on the heat, commenced in less than ideal conditions. Mick having made three out of the previous four finals, (four of five if you include the Hurley Pro) was dominant. Appearing to have the hoodoo over Bede who went for it but just didn't seem to have enough.
Then with three minutes to go Mick fell, lost priority, and Bede had the chance to take the lead with his choice of final waves. Taking off on his backhand Bede fell and that was it, no priority, no world championship, Fanning's roll continues.
