ON again, off again, it's tough at the Rip Curl Pro Portugal for fans and surfers alike.
Swell is not the issue, there's plenty of that coming out of the Atlantic in the next few days, buckets of it, replete with lashings of wind and rain. In an attempt to get as much surfing in as possible before the weather Sunday saw the completion of the final heats and Round 2 and Monday saw an attempt to get Round 3 off and rolling, before being promptly stalled by the clean but inconsistent conditions.
Before the brakes were applied John John Florence was victorious in the opening heat of the day, surviving a slow affair with Travis Logie. Finally, Gabriel Medina closed-out the day's action with a high-flying affair against Brett Simpson. © 2014 Rip Curl
