More than 70 volunteers arrived in Riyuewan beach today to take part in an annual beach clean up sponsored by two Sanya businesses; Surfing Hainan and The Dolphin Bar. Local expats, visitors and students from Sanya University donned bright green “clean up crew” T-shirts, red rubber gloves to stuff trash bags full of trash in an effort to keep one of Hainan’s best surfing beaches beautiful.
Every year for the past three years, Brendan Sheridan, owner of Surfing Hainan surf shop and surfing school has hosted the Hainan International Surf Competition at Riyuewan Beach. Top ranked surfers from around the world converge to ride some of China’s best waves.
Surfers are some of the most environmentally conscious people on the planet. Brendan knows it is important that not only Riyeuwan Beach but all beaches be keep clean and free of trash in order to continue to attract champion surfers to Hainan. Surfing Hainan, located in the Dadonghai area of Sanya, is Hainan’s premier surf company, with surf lessons, trips, SUP excursions, and more. www.surfinghainan.com
