Surf conditions at 7.20 a.m. on Friday 18th October 2013:
Those swell lines are sharp and smooth, the waves cresting and curling in the early morning gloom of a proper Cornish mizzle.
It's pumping out there!
Three to four to five feet and bigger waves are walling through on the odd set, a perfect desolation with those empty waves peeling merrily along unseen and unridden.
That'll change soon enough!
The light breeze is offshore, south easterly and the tide is on the drop. The sky is grey and the bay is a tone card of greys but the sea is an enticing blue, the broken waves showing brilliant white water in the gloom.
Yep, it's looking good and it could get even better on this afternoon's tide, as long as that wind behaves itself!
We have been using the hashtag #gosurfnow on our social media for a while now and that pretty much says it for today; #gosurfnow!
Massive congratulations to Kai Otton on taking out the Rip Curl Pro down in Peniche, Portugal yesterday!
And so this year's World Championship is going to be decided in Hawaii, as it should be, keeping us all guessing as to the eventual outcome. Mick or Ke11y?
It's just a shame that Jamie O'B won't be showcasing at the Pipe Masters. But I'm sure that he will feature in some way!
Meanwhile, good luck to all of the students down at Fistral Bay for the Universities Competition, one of the biggest surf contests in the world. You guys have lucked in today - enjoy!
