Freewave Surf, SUP & Coasteering Academy
Freewave Surf Academy is a surf school/training centre providing a range of surfing experiences as well as intensive training for beach lifeguards and budding surfing instructors. We are based at Widemouth Bay, Bude, North Cornwall, however we also provide lessons on many of Bude’s popular beaches and some quieter, hidden beaches too
Freewave was set up by Robin Ross (Chief Instructor), a local surfer with a passion for teaching people how to surf. Robin has spent over 12 years surf instructing and lifeguarding for the RNLI on the Bude beaches and will ensure your safety. Robin is the first person you talk to when getting in contact and the first person you meet when arriving. Robin takes some of the surfing sessions and runs the training academy for surf instructors and lifeguards.
Dan Heard is the Head Coach at Freewave Surf Academy. A natural waterman who is full of life and ocean knowledge (he also has a bushy beard). He takes a large majority of the surf and training sessions as well as making sure that all of the equipment is maintained and at its best.
We are very proud to be working with brother and sister duo Kieron and Beth for The Beach House in Widemouth Bay. They have just taken over the Hotel/Restaurant there and have some amazing ideas that we are all very excited about. The rooms are simple and the vibe is fun and friendly, the location…..lets just say you wont be walking very far to get to the beach!! Thanks to The Beach House we now offer food and/or accommodation with all of our experiences and some fantastic last minute deals of Surf & Stay packages.
