WATCH: Ben Larg 'Nathan Florence Pushed me To Paddle Scottish Horror Barrel'

By on

There’s nowhere quite like home. Especially where Ben Larg calls home. The 17-year-old Scotsman has made a name for himself charging some of the sketchiest slabs in the land, and after Nic Von Rupp took him under his wing, it was only a matter of time before he began to tick off the likes of Nazare and Cave.

But we all have that deep connection to where it all began in our surfing journeys, and Ben is no different. He loves surfing at home more than anywhere else, so when the likes of Nathan Florence messaged him to come surf his local breaks, he was more than happy to oblige.

This meeting was about more than just riding some waves though, it was a lesson in continuous learning and understanding of our own limits in wave riding and above all, overcoming nerves and doubts — especially when Ben realises his jet ski won’t start and Nate wants to paddle the horrifying slab anyway.

Hit play for a genuine and honest meeting of surfers facing mother nature in some of the most beautiful yet harsh landscapes, and of course some epic turns and barrels.

This edit comes as a sample of a developing series “Ben Larg — Beyond the Island”. Would you like to see more of this series and jump into the mindset of a young big wave charger? Let us know below.
