WATCH: The History of Skeleton Bay aka Teahupoo on Sand

By on

For the first time, a docu has been released detailing the history of Namibia's Skeleton Bay. We know that when Skele kicks, it can be like Teahupoo on sand. But what of it discovery? What of the pioneers and those who found it? What is it actually like to surf? (Difficult as all hell...)

Written and produced by SA master lensman Alan Van Gysen with Will Bendix, Mirage is an ode to this sand sucking phenomenon. As the blurb states, it is a “documentary that traces the genesis of the Namibian sandspit and how it became one of the most sought after waves on the planet, as told by pioneering locals and some of the best tube riders in the world.” Hit play, above.
